Launching Missional Communities

Mike Breek and Alex Absalom, Launching Missional Communities: A Field Guide (2010)

This is one of the go to text books for missional communities.  Breen and the 3DM/ St Thomas’ Sheffield guys have developed some brilliant tools to help mainstream churches do mission.  If you want to understand missional lingo such as ‘missional communities’, ‘huddles’ and ‘life shapes’ then this is your book.

“What is the Difference Between a Small Group and a Huddle?  This is quite simple. A Huddle is an intentional discipling group for leaders, and a small groups is a microcosm of the church. Small groups, like mid-sized groups and large groups, should have an UP, In and OUT lifestyle representing the life of Jesus. As such, a Huddle may not have as fully rounded a three-dimensional lifestyle as a small group, because its focus is on personal discipleship.” (Kindle eBook Location 4150 of 5378)
